ADSL, which stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, is a broadband communication technology delivered over your existing BT telephone line. Don’t worry, you don’t require having a second BT line installed as ADSL utilises the spare capacity that’s present on your telephone line. This also allows you to still receive and make voice calls whilst surfing the Internet.

Cable modem offers similar speed as ADSL Broadband, the main difference is Cable Modem technology is delivered over the same line as Cable TV. As the Broadband Connection is delivered over your Cable TV, your telephone is free to calls. The main draw back with Cable Modem is that its limited to areas with Cable TV, therefore Cable Modem isn’t widely available within the UK as BT ADSL.
